MiApp will be a mother centric electronic record, aiming to improve communication and care plans amongst clinicians, it sets out to meet the visions of The Maternity Transformation Programme (Better Births 2016) and ensure full digitalization of the journey a mother has throughout the birth continuum.  The Perinatal Institute is focusing on safety throughout the system, ensuring we are meeting national guidance, policies and advocating ease of use for all users.

Pregnancy Module

The MiApp pregnancy module has been designed by women and their carers to provide relevant data capture and information and to facilitate communication. Based on the extensively used and improved national paper pregnancy notes, MiApp captures all aspects of the pregnancy journey. Current and future features include:

• All aspects of an antenatal visits
• Blood, scan and vaccination reports displayed in an easy to find and read format
• Risk assessments
• Personalised Care pathways
• Discussion and planning for labour, birth and parenthood
• Antenatal Payment Pathway Reports

Birth & Postnatal Module

The MiApp Birth and Postnatal module has been designed by women and their carers to provide relevant data capture and information and to facilitate communication.
Based on the extensively used and improved national paper birth, postnatal and bereavement notes, MiApp captures all aspects of the birth and postnatal journey, including:

• Birth summary and birth registration
• Postnatal VTE assessment
• Investigations, screening and vaccination
• Discussion and planning for parenthood
• Personalised care plans
• Postnatal Payment Pathway Reports

Mother Portal

Current and future features include:

• Mother derived design and development through Virtual Voices Online Research Group – the Perinatal Institute’s national consultation service.
• Developed collaboratively through national organisations, clinical consultation, and IT project experience.
• Enhances the safety and quality of maternity care through real-time data entry and secondary reporting.
• Mother centric, promoting effective communication with her health care providers through transparency and partnership.
• Timely access to the full suite of digitised maternity notes across the mother’s care pathway continuum.
• Provides latest evidence and national guidelines to support choice and personalised care plans.
• Personalised pregnancy journey, appointment scheduling, pregnancy diary, and useful contacts.
• Complies with WCAG AA standards and British Dyslexia Friendly Association Guidelines.
